London based, indie-pop singer-songwriter Jason Kwan released his debut EP, “Deja Vu” on June 7th 2024 and has just finished his first UK tour.

Jason’s debut EP “Deja Vu” features the focus track “Paradise”, accompanied by a visually stunning music video.

“Paradise” landed on Spotify’s New Music Friday UK and GLOW playlists, Apple Music’s New In Pride across all territories, and premiered on BBC Introducing. Jason is currently on an extended Deja Vu EP Tour, including playing mainstage at London Pride for the first time.

Independent through and through, Jason has performed at Glastonbury Festival, Meltdown Festival, opened for Rina Sawayama at Electrowerkz, and in 2023 landed three national billboard campaigns. He’s notably been a face of NYX Cosmetics since 2021, starring alongside Anne-Marie and Yasmin Finney.

Drawing on a myriad of influences from pop, RnB and soul, the Hong Kong born artist’s artistry shines on new single “Paradise”, with sweeping cinematic melodies and introspective lyrical storytelling that has become a fixture of his craft.

About the EP: “I wanted to write pop songs I deserved to hear when I was exploring my identity back in Hong Kong as a queer kid. I grew up inspired by late-70s, early 80s pop music, and wanted to blend those influences into my EP to give it a sense of nostalgia and a sentimental touch. The synths, the narratives, and the vocal tones of this EP capture the 2am adventures I had growing up in Hong Kong, still closeted, but exploring love, sexuality, and adventure for the first time.

These stories of falling in love, experiencing rejection, heartbreak, and celebration were stories I thought would only ever live in my memory. Being able to perform them and sing them for an audience on stage has been so liberating and freeing for me. There’s something about bringing songs written in the darkness to light, from keeping them hidden to singing them on stage that’s so magical to me, and hopefully to those listening too.”

Jason is a powerful voice in the LGBTQ+ and Asian communities. Originally from Hong Kong, Jason moved to the UK at the age of 14 by himself on a music scholarship. His music and brand campaigns champion queer Asian experiences, placing underrepresented narratives at the forefront of his work.

“Asian on the rise.”
